Ballymaloe May Fair

The month of May or 'Bealtaine' marks one of ancient Ireland's most important festivals and signals the arrival of Summer. Join us this year for Ballymaloe's first ever May Fair where we celebrate all things gardening, home, health, food and sustainable living under the summer sun.

Welcome to the Ballymaloe May Fair, part of the Ballymaloe Grainstore Festival programme for 2022 and Ballymaloe’s newest spring event. The Ballymaloe May Fair will open its gates for the very first time from May 2022 across the Grainstore and Big Shed venues.

The May Fair is an exciting fusion of lifestyle experiences focused on sharing a wealth of talent and knowledge from around Ireland. The Ballymaloe May Fair is an interactive experience where talented craft-makers, gardeners and eco experts come together to showcase their produce and share their knowledge. Over the weekend there will be a variety of adult workshops from pottery to woodwork to gardening, live music, fun and interesting activities for children and the most delectable food Ireland has to offer.

The May Fair, in keeping with the tradition of its name, will host an inaugural flower installation competition. “Thyme in the Garden” will see local florists and garden centres competing to create large floral installation under this year’s festival theme, Thyme.

The Balllymaloe May Fair offers visitors the chance to connect with all the good things in life in the glorious setting of Ballymaloe House and Gardens.

Event manager Bree Allen says, “As an important new part of the developing Grainstore event calendar, Ballymaloe May Fair is an opportunity to relax and enjoy the first big event of the spring with your family. We are truly lucky to have gathered together so many fantastic elements from all around Ireland for the May Fair”.

Bree reminds visitors to check the website for event information, “Our workshop programme and kids activities can all be viewed online. Activities vary with some included in the entry ticket with no need to pre-book, others need to be booked online in advance via the Ballymaloe Grainstore website. We look forward to seeing you!”

Come and experience the Ballymaloe May Fair, a weekend for all the family to discover new things, relax and recharge in the sunshine.
